Just over 600,000 cruise ship passengers visited St. Kitts – Nevis in 2011.
This is according to statistics from the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA).
Miss Beverly Harris, Chief Statistician in the Ministry of Sustainable Development said cruise ship passengers pumped an estimated EC$30.1 million in the St. Kitts and Nevis economy in 2011.
SCASPA reports 600,131 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts in 2011 from 305 calls, 84,392 more than the 515,739 cruise passengers in 2010 from 257 calls and 170,752 more passengers than the 429,379 in 2009 from 219 calls.
Carnival Cruise Line brought the most passengers ““ 194,516 in 2011 with the Carnival Victory accounting for 163,550 and the Carnival Miracle with 27,789 passengers.
Royal Caribbean International brought a total of 109,774 cruise passengers in 2011 with the Serenade of the Seas leading the six other sister ships accounting for 61,882 passengers.
Celebrity Cruise Lines brought 109,774 passengers with Celebrity Summit leading the seven sister ships with 29,853 passengers and the Celebrity Eclipse with 29,336 passengers over the 12 month period last year.
In 2011, the three ships of Princess Cruises brought 56,315 passengers. Emerald Princess accounted for 30,942 passengers from 10 calls.
Most passengers visited in December of last year with a record 102,674 passengers, 13,533 more than the 89,141 in December 2010 and 10,134 more than the 92,540 passengers in 2009.
