The greens of the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club and the Four Seasons Resort Nevis Golf Club will host professional and amateur golfers for the Second Annual St. Kitts-Nevis Admiral’s Cup Pro-Am Tournament.
The event from January 8th to 12th 2012 will be hosted simultaneously featuring play on two world-class golf courses.
“This is an important event for our destination marketing efforts as we begin to promote St. Kitts & Nevis as a world-class, twin-island golf destination,” said Senator the Hon. Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport.
“With two more championship courses scheduled to open on St. Kitts at Kittitian Hill and Christophe Harbour within the next two years, we are becoming well-positioned to grow the market for golf tourism to our islands,” said Minister Skerritt.
He said the Admiral’s Cup will help spread the word about the twin-island unique golf experience which has been one of the best kept secrets.
The 3-day, 54-hole tournament will see rounds one and three played on the links-style Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, an 18-hole course managed by Marriott Golf.
This sea-side course was first designed by Peter Thompson in 1975 and then redesigned by Thomas McBroom in 2003. Its unique layout offers holes on both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. It was the first Caribbean golf course to earn Audubon Certification for its environmental practices and is a natural haven for both native and migratory birds.
Round two will be played at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis, featuring the 20-year-old, 18-hole Robert Trent Jones II designed championship mountain side course that overlooks the Caribbean Sea and St. Kitts with a spectacular beach-side finishing 18th green.
St. Kitts is separated from Nevis at the closest point by a 2-mile wide channel and travel between the two islands is just over half an hour by ferry service.
Each team will be comprised of one host professional plus three amateurs. Registration for the Pro-Am tournament is currently open to club professionals and will soon be open for amateurs and guests. All-inclusive entry and non-golfing guest event packages are available and include amenities such as round-trip airport transfers, group breakfast and lunch daily, on-course refreshments, a casino event, spa treatments and more.
All players and guests will enjoy the hospitality and renowned service of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino, the host hotel for the event.
The Admiral’s Cup Pro-Am is managed by The Golf Connection and supported by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, the Four Seasons Resort Nevis and American Airlines.
