Nevis Island and The Current Economy

Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry will present the feature address at the Nevis Island Administration Consultation on the Economy on Tuesday, October 7th from 8:30a.m – 5:30p.m at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort.
Under the theme “Facing the Challenges of a Small Nation State through the Innovative Use of Limited Resources,” the Economic Consultation is geared towards facilitating a comprehensive, consultative process between the civil society and the public sector.
The guest speaker will be Dr. Brian Francis, Professor of Economics at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. Dr. Brian Francis will focus on the “Economic Management and Adjustment in Small Nation States.”
On discussing the preparations for the economic session, Budget Director in the Ministry of Finance, Miss Karen Hobson said, “I believe that this consultation will provide the necessary information that will foster further economic development for the island.”
The focal sectors for discussion are Tourism, Financial Services, Health and Social Development with the aim of facilitating the sharing of information and recommendations that will enhance a smooth transition in the economy for the 2009 budget period and beyond.
