The New Nevis Performing Arts Centre

Preremier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry says he has been looking forward to the day when the Nevis Performing Arts Center (NEPAC) would be opened to the public, and the residents of Nevis would get to enjoy the outstanding edifice and its facilities, which surpass other Performing Arts Centers in the Eastern Caribbean.
The Grand Opening of the spanking new EC $14.5 million Center, located in Pinneys Estate, which is jointly funded by the Government of the Republic of China on Taiwan and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 5:00pm.
Hundreds of nationals and special guests are expected to attend.
“I am very proud of this Center, and I look forward to residents enjoying the facility and viewing great performances there. I want people to have pride in the building and care it, so that it can be in good form, and remain just as beautiful in years to come,” said the Premier.
The Center includes a 400-seat theater, two dressing rooms, storage rooms, a large courtyard, a canteen, bathroom facilities, a parking area for over one hundred vehicles, a media room and a lighting and audio room. The Center was designed by Mr. John Baker of St. Maarten and constructed by Surrey Paving & Aggregate Caribbean ““ Nevis led by Mr. Desmond Lewis.
According to the Advisor to Culture and Chairperson of the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation (NCDF), Mr. Halstead “Sooty” Byron, Saturday’s opening promises to be an outstanding event. He said among the invited guests will be, the Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert M. Sebastian, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, members of the Federal and NIA Cabinet, all of the Ambassadors in the Federation, and other dignitaries.
“The performances for the evening will be top-notch as local and regional acts will grace the stage for an evening of outstanding talent in the brand new, comfortable and modern building,” commented Mr. Byron.
