Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Joseph Parry, demonstrated his continued effort for being proactive when he met with industry partners prior to debating the budget, which will take place on Tuesday, December 9th 2008.
At a conference at the Ministry of Finance with representatives of financial institutions on Nevis, Premier Parry stated, “The Worldwide recession has gone on for about 12 months; we cannot wait until it ends in the U.S”¦we have to do what we can now!”
The Nevis Reformation Party led Nevis Island Administration has had the courage and commonsense to acknowledge the world recession and ensuing financial crisis.
Anticipating probable challenges, with the looming world financial crisis, Premier Parry met with hoteliers on Tuesday, December 2nd and financial institutions on Thursday, December 4th to discuss possible problems and solutions for the economy of Nevis, 2009.
“We have worked very well with the private sector as our partners; and we anticipate that we will be able to achieve something positive out of these meetings,” said Premier Parry.
The meetings were organized in an attempt to ensure employment and financial stability for the people of Nevis. It is expected that through Premier Parry’s ingenuity along with the support of his cabinet, residents of Nevis will continue to enjoy a comfortable standard of living in the face of adverse social and economic conditions worldwide.
