Nevis Street Parade Closes Culturama 2006

Several residents, visiting Kittians, returning nationals and other visitors gathered on Main Street in Charlestown to watch the last event of Culturama 2006 ““ the Cultural Street Parade and Last Lap Jump Up.Despite the late start of the parade, the early enthused revellers took up their strategic position to watch the colourful parade roved its way to the Cultural Complex where they performed for the gathering. 
It stated off from its traditional point, opposite the Sea Spawn Guest House on Old Hospital Road and the children, the primary schools students led the procession.  Bringing up the rear was “No peace in the Middle East” presented by the Harlem Boys, depicting the present situation in the Middle East.
The St. Thomas School presented “Butterflies in splendour”; the Ivor Walters Primary School presented “Aim at the stars and you will reach the sky” and the Gingerland Primary School presented “Queen City in Splendour”.  Other performances came from the Charlestown Primary School and the VOJN Primary School.
The senior section of the parade saw performances from the Four Seasons Resort ““ “Simply the Best, Simple Elegant” (celebration of 15 years of existence); the Bath Village revellers – “From whence we came”; the Green Valley Revellers (St. Kitts troupe); the Mango Tree Bar ““ “Queen of the Crop”; the Admiral’s Ball and the Shagedanies Mocko Jumbies.
Culturama 2006 Patron, Ms Idetha Lawrence as well as the winners of all the categories for the competitive shows held under the umbrella of “Mass, Music, Lyrics, Its Culturama 2006″ paraded through the street of Charlestown.
The last lap jump up ends activities for Culturama 2006.
