Charlestown Nevis (January 19, 2007)
Nevis’ Ministry of Tourism announced the names of the nominees of the various categories for the 2007 Tourism Awards slated for Saturday February 3, 2007 at the prestigious Four Seasons Resort, Nevis.
Development Officer, Ms. Nicole Liburd made the announcement during a press conference held on January 17, at the Tourism Conference Room, Bath Hotel. She expressed that each year the Ministry of Tourism invited nominations from its tourism partners to gather names of individuals to be honoured for their involvement, commitment and ongoing contribution to the development of the tourism industry.Of the seven categories named, the following persons were nominated for Hotel Employee of the year. Gail Harvey, Tim Wilkinson, Wilbert “Dan” Perkins, Leah Claxton and Leroy Sturge
The Taxi Operators selected were Reuel Sargeant Snr., Alfred Forbes, Luther Morton, Marlon Loncke and Thelma Claxton “TC”. However, for the Corporate Partner, Jeanette Grell-Hull for Carib World Travel was nominated.
Lynell and Earla Liburd of Sunrise Tours, Jim and Nikki Johnson of Top to Bottom, Michael Walwyn of “One Coco” Backhoe and Services and Compassionate Touch were nominated for the Other Allied Services (Establishment) while for Other Allied Services (Worker) were Sandra Lee of Carib World Travel and Dr. Chandy Jacobs, Medical Doctor.
Nominated for Long Service were, Cordelle Martin, George Mills, Nelson Jeffers, Yvette Jackman, Faye Walters and Donna Bartlette. Vaden Jones of Oualie Hotel, Roxanne Brookes-Daniel of Four Seasons Resort and Nisbett Plantation Beach Club were nominated for Hotel/Management category.
The awards ceremony will climax the 2007 Tourism Week of Activities slated for January 27th to February 3rd, 2007.
