Saint Kitts – Nevis’ Nu-Vybes Heads for Irie Jamboree

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 17TH 2006 (CUOPM)

It’s higher heights for one of Saint Kitts’ leading bands.

Nu Vbyes is scheduled to perform at the prestigious Reggae Festival in North America, scheduled for Queen’s, New York on September 3, 2006, on the eve of the annual Labour Day Parade.According to President and Chief Executive Officer of VIP Connected Entertainment Incorporated, Mr. Julie “Lexy” Brooks, Nu Yvbes will perform at the fourth Irie Jamboree, considered to be the hardest festival for an artiste to get on the line-up.

Irie Jamboree this year promises to be bigger than ever and attract a record 300,000 patrons, 10,000 more than the previous year.

“This year’s Irie jamboree will pay tribute to Jamaica’s national Hero and Reggae Super Star, the Hon. Robert Nesta Marley and the star-studded line-up includes Beres Hammond, Capleton, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Coca Tea, Assassin, Baby Cham, Gregory Isaacs, and Nu Yvbes,” said Brooks, who disclosed that “NuYvbes most likely kick off the big show at the Roy Wilkins Park, in Queen’s, New York.”

“It was a long haul, but we finally got the promoters of Irie Jamboree to add the group to their already prestigious line-up. Because the theme for this year is 100 percent reggae, it was difficult to incorporate a soca band into the event but with strong persuasion, we finally got a “˜yes'”, said Brooks.

He lauded the band and promised to push the band “because they are hardworking and do not sit and wait for an opportunity to fall in their lap. They go out and fight for it, claim it and own it and those are the people that I will always be eager to help,” added Lexy.

Past headliners at Irie Jamboree include Grammy Award winner, Sean Paul, Shabba Ranks, Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley and hip-hop artistes Big Daddy Kane and Dougie Fresh.
