St. Kitts – Nevis Accept Flag For CARIFTA Games 2008

The Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 CARIFTA (The Caribbean Free Trade Association)games in St Kitts – Nevis, was on hand in full force to receive the CARIFTA Flag and the symbolic Baton, signaling its readiness to host the next edition of the prestigious meet.

Lester Hanley, Chairman of the LOC 2008 expressed his organization’s profound gratitude to the Turks and Caicos for their successful hosting of the 2007 CARIFTA Games on Providenciales. St Kitts – Nevis will host the CARIFTA Games for the first time in 2008. A new eight-lane Mondo track will be laid in St Kitts for the event which is expected to usher a new phase in the development of track and field athletics in the nation.
 
Kim Collins, the World and Commonwealth Champion in the 100m hails from St Kitts – Nevis and the hosting of the CARIFTA Games 2008 certainly has his blessings.

President of Team Athletics SVG and Vice President of NACAC has been involved in a Press Conference with the LOC in March 2007 and is expected to play a critical role in ensuring the success of the CARIFTA Games 2008.
 
Keith Joseph was the Organizational Delegate to the CARIFTA Games 2007 while Esther Maynard of Barbados was the Technical Delegate.
