St. Kitts and Nevis‘ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is leading a three-man delegation to this week’s meeting in Trinidad between Caribbean leaders and United States Vice President, the Hon. Joseph Biden.
Prime Minister Douglas is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Elvis Newton.
The meeting in Port of Spain is aimed at consolidating a stronger relationship with Latin America and the Caribbean region. The potential use of mobile phones for banking, health and education services, as well as the energy potential within the region will feature as subjects of discussion between the United States and the region.
Vice President Biden will meet with Prime Minister Douglas, host Prime Minister, the Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other Caribbean to discuss inclusive economic growth, development, energy and security cooperation throughout the Caribbean basin.
“In Trinidad and Tobago, the Vice-President looks forward to meeting with Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar as well as leaders of other Caribbean countries, whom Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar has graciously offered to invite. This trip will be an important chance to discuss our collective efforts to promote economic growth and development, access to energy and our ongoing collaboration on citizen security,” the release said.
