The Department of Physical Planning and Environment is taking its message of environmental awareness to the street on Friday June 22 with a parade and exhibition.

The activities are part of the June 2012 observance of Environment Awareness Month which was created by the Ministry of Sustainable Development this year.

The street parade, which will consist of students from the various primary schools throughout the island, will commence at Warner Park at 9:00a.m. The students will carry signs highlighting various environmental messages before congregating at the Independence Square. The exhibition at the square will showcase the artwork and green technology competition pieces submitted by the primary and secondary school students for World Environment Day which was observed on June 5.

The support of major stakeholders such as TDC Ltd, Solid Waste Management Corporation, St. Kitts Electricity Company and the Agriculture Department will be evident as they display various approaches to green technology.

Other activities for Environment Awareness Month included primary and secondary school visitations, radio presentations, art and green technology competition amongst primary and secondary schools and posting articles promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
