Fifth one-day international, Karachi: Pakistan 239-3 bt West Indies 238-7 by 7 wickets.
Rana Naved 4-43
Mohammad Hafeez hit 92 as Pakistan beat West Indies by seven wickets in Karachi to seal a 3-1 one-day series success. Shivnarine Chanderpaul had posted his fourth one-day ton but the West Indies total of 238-7 looked below par, Rana Naved restricting them with 4-43. Kamran Akmal hammered 56 in 59 balls as Pakistan raced to 87 from 16 overs and eventually won with 19 deliveries left. Chanderpaul’s century was his first in one-day internationals since 2002 and was particularly necessary after Chris Gayle was trapped by Naved for seven.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul 101
Although far from his best, with only three boundaries in his 44, Lara helped Chanderpaul add 96 from 108 balls before he too fell victim to Naved. Pakistan’s initial required run-rate of less than five an over was soon reduced further by Akmal, who smashed nine fours and a huge straight six off Daren Powell before he was another player to be caught at deep mid-wicket.
